Allithiamine – Help Your Pain and Your Brain

If you are ready to help your pain, then we’d like for you to meet allithiamine. You may be saying to yourself right now, “what in the heck is allithiamine?” Well, that’s a good question because this is not a word you hear everyday. However, if you would like to help your pain and your brain, this is something you want to learn about.

Allithiamine is a fat-soluble form of the popular B-1 vitamin. The difference is the B-1 you typically buy and hear about is water soluble. Our supplemental allithiamine is fat soluble. That makes a lot of difference in what it can do for your body.

Water soluble vitamins are only partially absorbed and then excreted in the urine. They do not stay around in the body for very long. Fat soluble vitamins, however, hang around in the body much longer and are able to have greater effects. This can be a valuable asset to patients suffering with an unhealthy nervous system and suffering with deficiency symptoms. If you are interested in feeling better and learning to help your pain, keep reading.

Allithiamine occurs naturally in foods of the allium family. Specifically, those include onions, garlic, and leeks. These foods have long been known to be beneficial to your health. Sometimes it can be hard to eat enough of the correct foods to help your pain and nervous system. This supplement form is often suggested for patients whose intake of B-1 sources is insufficient or  if the water soluble form is not providing the expected benefits. If you’re deficient this is a great product for helping you raise your B-1 level. It really can help your pain and improve mental clarity.

But, that bears the question…

Why Is Your Allithiamine Low?

So, why might your B-1 levels be low? There are many reasons this can occur. Here are just a few examples:

    • High carbohydrate intake – B-1 is used to metabolize these.
    • Chronic alcohol use
    • Hyperthyroidism
    • Severe infection
    • Eating a lot of processed foods
    • Many medications
    • Increasing age

As you see there are many reasons. This only scratches the surface of the causes.

Can Allithiamine Help Your Pain AND Your Brain?

A lot of times, doctors and nutritionists will recommend trying to raise your levels naturally at first. This is always best practice, of course. Besides the allium family, other foods high in thiamine consist of nuts, oats, dried beans and peas, asparagus, kale, spinach, broccoli, liver, and eggs. There are more, but this is a good list to get started with.

These foods may help to raise your B-1, but in some cases that is not enough. That’s when supplements may come into play. The benefits of supplementation when needed can be:

  • Improved nervous system health
  • Improved brain health
  • Increased energy levels
  • Improved peripheral neuropathy symptoms
  • Decreased leg cramps
  • Improved depression, anxiety, confusion

And the list could go on and on.

What Can You Do About B-1 Deficiency? How Do You Help Your Pain And Your Brain?

If you think you may suffer with or have been told you do have a thiamine (B-1) deficiency, we advise you to speak to us about allithiamine. This is a supplement proven to help many who have taken it. It is fat soluble and therefore, stays in your body longer.

For your reference, the oral and topical formulas we suggest are in the store here, in case you would like to purchase them today. Just so you know these formulas are free of wheat, corn, soy, yeast and phenol which are common food and chemical allergens.

As with any supplement be sure to check with your physicians before beginning. Patients with active cancer or history of cancer or pregnant should always check with their doctors before beginning any new vitamins or treatment regimens especially allithiamine.

What is Metabolic Syndrome and Why Should You Care?

Some people have never heard of metabolic syndrome. Although, you may know it by another name. Perhaps, you’re more familiar with the term pre-diabetes.

If so, then you know this is a precursor stage for the development of full-blown diabetes. That’s when your health can really start taking a turn for the worse. You may not know it immediately, but eventually, if left unaddressed at its root, diabetes will have detrimental effects on your body.

Metabolic syndrome is the “early” warning sign prior to the possible full blown development of diabetes. In fact, the development of neuropathy can occur sometimes 15 years or more before a diagnosis of diabetes occurs!

But turning around your lifestyle and making immediate changes may help prevent Type II diabetes altogether.

Interestingly, metabolic syndrome has become more and more common over the last decade. In addition to that scary fact, the age at which the syndrome is appearing is steadily decreasing. It is now quite common for young people and even children to be affected with metabolic syndrome.

But…Why Should You Care?

Well, when you consider that a little over a third of American adults are believed to have metabolic syndrome and probably a fourth of our children, that’s a good reason for us all to care.

Here’s the trajectory if we don’t wake up and get ahold of this. Metabolic syndrome becomes diabetes which is one of the primary risk factors for heart disease, stroke, neuropathy, and some cancers. In one word, that all sums up to unhealthy and downright dangerous.

If you don’t want to live the rest of your life in an unhealthy state with likely deterioration of health and function, then now is the time to get ahold of it.

Since 60% of neuropathy is diabetes related…now you see why we’re talking about metabolic syndrome. We would like to help you before permanent damage is done

We can help do this in a variety of ways:

  • Preventing or helping you reverse metabolic syndrome
  • Provide weight loss programs & nutrition recommendations
  • Provide optimal preventive therapies immediately
  • Offer the best in neuropathy treatments

What is Holistic Neuropathy Treatment?

Blending holistic & conventional neuropathy treatment can so often help relieve your pain. This is what we do at NeuropathyDR. Helping patients be successful with neuropathy and pain relief is our passion. We love to see our patients improve in ways they’ve never done before. We find blending a conventional & holistic approach is so often the best way to make this happen.

But, you might wonder exactly what we mean by holistic neuropathy treatment. Well here goes!

What is a Holistic Neuropathy Treatment Plan?

We believe that treatment plans should be as individualized as the people they effect. As many kinds of people as there are, so too are there as many ways of treating them. For instance, think about these different methods of treatment, then think of how many you’ve been told about:

  • Prescription medications (pills) – medicine
  • Intravenous therapy (IVs) – medicine
  • Neurostimulation (NDGen®)
  • Nutrition – food & targeted supplements
  • Hydration – fluids
  • Exercise – body movement
  • Laser therapy
  • Physical therapy

And the list could go on and on. Most likely you’ve heard of a couple, but it’s highly unlikely any practitioner has helped you put together your own individualized plan of action using whichever ones work best for you. The point is, there are many options out there and that’s the message we are here to spread. Every patient is an individual and no one treatment plan works for every single one of them all the time.

We believe the best approach is blending the best of conventional & holistic neuropathy treatment because we know that’s where the most success can be achieved.

Through many years of practice, we have learned some of the best combinations for patients, including many of those listed above. The absolute best way to treat your neuropathy pain and/or other chronic pain is a combination therapy.

We advise you to work with a trained physician who understands the benefits and outcomes of both conventional & holistic treatment choices.

Here at NeuropathyDR, that’s what we are all about. In fact, we want to help you. Helping patients find true success is our mission.

We’re waiting to hear from you now. Just give us a holler and we’ll help you get started. You can go ahead and join us over on Facebook right now. Just click HERE!

What About Laser Treatments?

Laser has been around since about 1960 or so when a now famous scientist produced these “focused light beams” in the laboratory. Laser treatments in some forms have actually been used in medicine for many years.

Now, lasers are everywhere, everything from CD Players, printers and measuring devices to military weapons. I’m sure you may even have seen a few of your own! These ultra focused light beams can be used at high intensity to seal tissue, aid surgeons dentists and dermatologists in their daily work with patients. And at lower intensity, they have had applications in pain and neuropathy treatment for some time too.

So what does laser have to do with neuropathy and pain treatment? Well, it could be that laser treatments are the “missing link” in some forms of neuropathy and pain treatment! One of our basic attempts in neuropathy and pain treatment is to do whatever can help safely and effectively boost our cells use of “energy”. Well, along with proper nutrition and electrotherapy, laser may aid energy production in damaged nerves. The way this may happen is fascinating, but way beyond the scope of this column.

No treatment works 100 percent of the time. And that is a key point to remember. Nowhere is this more apparent than in laser treatments for neuropathy. Even amongst laser treatment experts there’s often disagreement as to what makes good neuropathy and pain treatment. But some techniques and equipment are proving very effective while others are a complete waste! And this is exactly why we now have so many types of laser treatments available.

This even includes an home laser treatments you can actually sleep with to improve your laser treatment results for pain and perhaps wound healing as well.

The good news is more experience and research including our own is helping us find even better laser treatments than we have available today!

Always remember though, our team members go to great lengths every day to be sure we are up to date in the latest, and best forms of laser treatment for you and your family!

3 Pieces of Better Health

Can it really be this easy? Are there really just 3 pieces of better health? The answer is a resounding yes!

Too often, like so many things we tend to make health and even treatment of certain illnesses more complicated than they need to be. As a regular reader of our materials you understand some of this already but let’s try to put it all together today in a simple fashion.

The first piece of the 3 Pieces of Better Health, in fact the mainstay of better health and yes recovery from illness has got to be diet. A plant based Mediterranean type diet. This diet with very limited, to no animal products, plenty of healthy fats like olive and fish oil and little to no refined sugars is not only perhaps the healthiest diet but also quite likely the best for our brains and nervous systems or what we doctors call neuro-protective. So this has got to be your first priority. If you need a refresher, get your ND Diet Plan HERE

There’s no question no matter where you are that physical activity is paramount to your wellness and recovery from any illness. In fact, simply start where you are! If you’re recovering from surgery for example, use that wheelchair or walker as much as you possibly can. If you are completely mobile, walk whenever you can and in fact avoid sitting for more than 20 minutes maximum any given time. Believe or not these deliberate but simple physical activities when done consistently during our day probably do more for blood flow and strength than any other single thing you can do throughout the day. This includes going to the gym in the morning and then sitting all day on the job or at home.

Finally, so much as the written about mindset and health. Make no mistake about it your attitude, your support system, your interaction with family and those you love go a long way towards ensuring you have this third but key piece of better health. And no it’s not without demanding your own needs are met. Add in daily meditation, regular thought provoking reading and simple downtime and you literally have a lifelong winning combination.

We’ll talk much more about the key chronic pain and neuropathy treatment pieces next time and as you’ll see these 3 pieces of better health slide right in a critical way.

Finally, please don’t make your life or health plan more complicated than it is!

Just think of all the time, money and energy you’ll save by simply becoming self sufficient with your shopping and diet, exercising at home and daily mindset & self-care!

Easy Home Tidiness Habits To Help You Reduce Stress

Coming home to a messy or cluttered house at the end of a long work day is not conducive to relaxation. It’s that simple. Stress over time can be devastating to our health, so it is important to make our homes into places of peace, a refuge from the cares of the outside world. Keeping your home tidy is an easy way to decrease stress.

Benefits of Reducing Stress

It’s no secret that stress is bad for our health. Not only can it lead to heart problems, there have been suggested links to cancer and dementia as well. Putting some time aside each day to relax, to have a peaceful space where you can let go of your worries, may aid your physical health. You may help reduce your risk of high blood pressure or even heart attacks if you take time to relax. Stress can impair memory and your ability to learn, and, as mentioned, may be a factor in the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Aside from physical benefits, you may simply feel happier if you consciously choose to unwind each day. Stress may trigger relapses in depression and can lead to the buildup of cortisol, which can dampen the brain’s ability to produce serotonin and dopamine. Overall, it’s a good idea to make sure you have a space you can relax in every single day. Cleaning your home and making sure it is organized can help to create that environment.

Organization Practices

Part of keeping your home tidy and stress-free is having a good organization system in place. Lazy Susans can be used in more places than the kitchen cupboard. Clear up counter space in your bathroom by putting your lotions, face creams, toothpaste, or whatever you use daily on a lazy Susan to give you easy access and keep counters from being cluttered. Organize your linen closet by keeping sheets neat and folded together inside a pillow case. Add hooks or shelves to your bedroom to make sure you don’t leave jackets lying on floors, and books or purses askew on the bedside table.

Focus on the Bedroom

If you focus on creating a relaxing environment in one room, make it your bedroom. This should be your sanctuary from the rest of the world. Keep your chest of drawers tidy by using dividers so your clothes won’t be mixed and messy. Using multiple waste bins around the room can keep floors clear. If you are tight on space, you can transform your headboard into shelving, which can double as a nightstand as well. Whatever you do, make sure you keep your room feeling light and as stress-free as possible. This is the place you sleep, perhaps meditate, and should be a place of calm serenity. Adding scented candles in your preferred fragrance or using warmed oils can aid in relaxation. Hang soothing art and use light fixtures that make you feel at home in your bedroom.

A Home for Everything

It’s so easy, especially after having a long, tiring day, to strip your work day away when you get home. Your keys may go on the table and your shoes may wind up beneath the couch. Your purse may lie on the kitchen counter, and your jacket may end up half on a chair, half on the floor. This clutter can make a space, especially a small one, feel claustrophobic. Take fifteen minutes to assign “homes” for your high-use items. Make it a ritual to put things in their place right when you get home. Having a clear space with tidy walkways not only makes being home easier, but it feels like a breath of fresh air.

Your home should not add to anxiety or the stresses in your life. It should be your refuge and be somewhere you can safely unwind. By making little changes, you can ensure that your house is the perfect place to relax at the end of each day.
